Lately I feel like I have fallen out of the loop and maybes its because I find myself learning most of my “gaming world” knowledge from friends and colleagues. This has disconnected me from getting my own news and keeping ahead of where I currently am. I had been told about the announcement and countdown that Fallout had started counting down to today. I also know there are probably a million + 1 posts about Fallout 4, but I mean it makes sense with a game having as much fanbase as this.
So coming in to work today I was told right away “Did you see the new Fallout trailer?” and my first question was “Is it actually Fallout 4?” and when she said “Yes”, that is all I really needed to hear. So finally after a few hours of hard work and meetings I got a chance to watch it, and here is the trailer!
I can’t say that this trailer excited me as much as I had hoped, but maybe the Fallout in me is at a low right now. I played the crap out of Fallout 3, but I unfortunately didn’t play much of Fallout: New Vegas. I am not sure if I just overplayed Fallout 3 and was not in the mood still when New Vegas came out or if I just veered away from this sort of game because I find that I can play a faster paced game and get into it and move on/swap between another game. Playing a game like this and wanting to enjoy every aspect almost takes up all your “game” time because the concept and world is so open and diverse.
I didn’t get the same feeling that I got from the Fallout 3 teaser which actually got me super excited and probably the reason I actually got the game!
I think it just wasn’t as powerful with the music choice after it shows the vault door open (Vault 111).

I think the trailer could have been more eerie or shortened and made as more of an actual teaser, as opposed to a trailer with E3 just around the corner where they will announce much more for the game and what to expect. I think it should have shown up until the dog started running. Vault 111 closing or opening, followed by the Nuclear explosion and then the dog showing up beside his master running by the mech armour and him saying “come on boy, let’s go”. I think it would have caused more hype, more mystery, and would have had more impact. Maybe just after the vault and before the explosion, they show the shot of the Rorschach looking character walking down the street. This part already had the mystery/eeriness to it. Either way I am not complaining about this Trailer, again I just wasn’t as “moved” by it.
I can’t wait to see what is unveiled at E3 this year (June 14, 2015 for Bethesda’s Conference), but feel like this will be another big year at E3. Considering every company is always trying to +1 on another company and also +1 on what was unveiled last year. I mean I think there are still a few games (1 comes to mind – Quantum Break) that seemed like they would be released/releasing soon, but have been pushed multiple times. Hopefully Quantum Break proves to be worth the wait and is a super fun game.
I definitely think that Fallout 4 has tons of potential and hope its not a let down that did good because its part of a popular franchise. Bethesda is also a huge company with some great games under their belt, so hopefully this one stays true to being a great game! 😀
Never-the-less-I-AM_Excited for THIS GAME!
P.S. Re-watching the trailer I do think they added great detail, such as how beautiful the town was to how destroyed it is having debris EVERYWHERE! And maybe we will get to play the game before everything happened leading up to the Nuclear Explosion?? I believe this game will be fantastic to play.
Things from the Trailer:
(This list contains things I saw and things we’ve seen in Fallout 3 :D)
- Brotherhood of Steel
- Mister Handy
- Man’s Best Friend (Dog Companion)
- When the Nuclear Strike Happens
- Washington Monument (From Fallout 3)
- Flying Boat (USS Constitution?)
- Mysterious (Rorschach Looking) Guy
- Vault 111 (Not this Vault 111)
- 2 Headed Cow (Brahmin)
- Protectron (Comparing graphics/details from old to this, what an improvement!)
- Crab?(At 1:45)
- Yao Guai? (At 1:47) – It kind of looks like it could be, but with more defects. Or maybe a new breed/mutant?
- Even crazier Feral Ghouls (1:49)
- Fenway Park (Diamond City [I mean using “Diamond” is a play on what Fenway park is])
- Swatters – Custom Baseball bat sticker (referencing it was a baseball stadium) on the side
- Something-Wealth esponry? (1:55 yellow shop, can’t quite read it)
- Diamond City Surplus
- Power Noodles
- Statue of Paul Revere
- Nuclear Explosion (hinting of pre-apocalypse storyline revealed?)
- Pip boy bobblehead (2:20 behind the Brotherhood of Steel Armour)
- Pip boy on man’s arm
- Vault 111 jumpsuit
- Dog Companion (Man’s Best Friend)
And yes I realize 3 & 20 are the same 😛
What did I miss from the trailer? (Even though this is unfinished, feel free to let me know anything so I can add it :D)
What are your thoughts on this trailer, Fallout 4, or anything related??
Oh and this is the box art 😀 SO assumably the Brotherhood of Steel has a big part in this game as well :D:D
