Gears of War has announced Gears of War Ultimate Edition and Gears 4 at this years E3 along with a playable multiplayer beta for Gears of War Ultimate Edition.
On top of the release I have learned random things from listening to random E3 live interviews in the background of working.
Gears 4: Her name is Kait.
The Gears campaign is roughly 2 hours longer (5 extra chapters) with the additional content from the PC version ported over to the Xbox One remastered game. So myself along with thousands if not millions will get to experience a bit more of the story if we have not played the original PC edition. This will include all 19 multiplayer maps from the original, PC version and from Gears 2/3.
The game will have 1250 Gamerscore to get right off the get go. The achievements have been tweaked a bit, but will include some of the annoying ones from the original release.
This game is a beautiful 1080p 60FPS game that runs smoothly and looks great while running around with your Gnasher Shotgun! In a nutshell this is just a great remaster of a fantastic game with some aspects of the gameplay stolen from Gears 3 to make the Ultimate edition move more smoothly.
Basically its like Gears of War fused with Gears of War 3 making the gameplay feel way smoother and way less clunky overall.
Playing the game, there wasn’t much of anything wrong right away, but as you play you kind of start to notice those small little things, but things that can be tweaked. Hopefully if enough people agree on certain things, they will change/fix them 😀
The registry has its moments where it will get you killed because it just wouldn’t register. I don’t know if this was any issue due to any lag (which I didn’t notice any), plus this is suppose to be “dedicated” servers. It was frustrating when you shoot an enemy 1-2 times with a Gnasher and it wouldn’t even take them down :S
The other thing that got annoying and got me killed more than I wanted it to was the wall grabbing. Whenever I would go to roll away it would hug the wall… This got me (and many others) killed at least a dozen times. Maybe a different button could be used for hiding behind the walls, like LB or RB or a combo of 2 buttons that could interact nicely 😀 since “A” is for run/dodge it would make sense to reassign the wall hugging button.
Other than those 2 issues, I didn’t really notice much myself with any problems. The game was fun and was slightly as I expected (but didn’t feel clunky like playing the original for the 360)
In the end, I am excited and can’t wait for the actual release of this game. I am excited to get into the campaign again and uncover the 5 chapters I never got to play before 😀
